Sometimes love is planning on having a cosy cottage when the dust has settled, sometimes love is kissing the person you want to be with before a big battle and seeing where things go from there, and sometimes love is swiping a bag of shrooms from a cow man and letting the other know that you'd do any and every crazy thing they want with them

while it is funny to joke about, there really is something special to three separate couples (across two campaigns) confessing their love at caleb's tower, right?

and in a way, it's not surprising. widogast's nascent nein-sided tower is the culmination of months and months of work from caleb. he thought of every single nook and cranny. his love for his friends and family is built into every single inch (yes, even the eighth floor). it is a home. it is a refuge. it is filled with love. caleb built the tower with the intention of protecting his family after they were taken (before he even called them family- let alone friends). and it did. it protected them and sheltered them and let them express themselves.

is it any wonder every couple has felt safe and cared for and given the space to be able to share their feelings with the one they love?

i think we all moved on from orym being dorian's first love too quickly and how bc dorian has been so sheltered his entire life he didn't even know what lust or love felt like until he met orym and how him not knowing those feelings was one of the reasons dorian was so hesitant to express them. i think a lot of people, me included, were really wondering why he was so hesitant to express his feelings towards orym and thinking that it was simply about it not being the right time or wanting to give orym space to mourn his husband and while i'm sure that all played a factor in it, i don't think anyone really thought that part of why it took so long was bc dorian was falling in love for the first time and was overwhelmed and unfamiliar with what he was feeling

going insane about dorym because of course i am and like. i am having so many thoughts about the confession vs the kiss and who initiated which one… because for the confession, we’ve got dorian—the bard, the wordsmith, the poet—giving this heartfelt speech to orym—shy orym who was never going to speak on his feelings and was going to continue to pine from a distance. but then we’ve got the kiss, where it’s orym initiating—orym, who’s done this all before with the first love of his life (not the only, just the first), orym who was married for four years, who we know had a very physical relationship with his husband—and kissing dorian—dorian, who was sheltered in his home up until a year ago, dorian who’s never been in a relationship before, who’s presumably never kissed anyone before either. orym who grabs dorian by the collar and pulls him in for a ten second kiss, while dorian’s response to being asked to kiss him is “ohhhhhhh shit yes” in a stammering and awkward voice. (but dorian continues to be smooth at times too… there’s no way that “oh, i want” didn’t make orym absolutely weak in the knees.)

Dorian's "I want nothing more" during his confession gets to me because yeah it's him not pushing Orym into anything sexual that neither of them are quite ready for.

But also if you listen to the little bit of longing in his voice. It sounds like "I want nothing more in this life than to hold you. I've wanted to hold you for so long." It feels very akin to his "oh Orym my heart aches that I cannot be there to help you" where you can hear the yearning in his voice. You can hear how much he's wanted to have Orym in his arms. How much he wants Orym in his arms.

fucking crazy how orym and dorian will make constant embarassingly besotted hearteyes at each other whenever they simply exist, risk their lives to save the other no matter how big the threat right in front of their noses, have several heartattacks if one as much as trips over a branch, gush to a distant parent about how great the other is, literally bluescreen, watch the other sleep BUT THEY WON'T FUCKING TALK ABOUT THEIR DAMN FEELINGS i am barely holding on

Dorym have such a noble/knight dynamic. Offering your family's steed to your soldier boyfriend to ride into battle. Helping him up, even though you know he could do it himself. Getting a kiss on the cheek as thanks.

When Liam created a grieving widower he went all in on being a grieving widower.

Orym misses his husband Will so much. He cares so much for him and because of it he is crushingly lonely at night, even when being spooned by his best friends.

But time doesn't sit still for the living. So years go by for the widower. And he meets someone who brushes upon some feelings that he had held for only his husband for years.

"I really miss Dorian and sometimes I think that's okay and sometimes I think it isn't"

The feelings exist, it's undeniable, and sometimes he feels indulgent. But because those feelings are so wrapped up with Will, wouldn't it, in Orym's eyes, feel like a betrayal?

So he feels those feelings and then guilt trips himself over it.

i do think it’s very important that liam pointed out specifically that no matter how hardheaded orym is in what he believes he doesn’t let that stop him from seeking dorian out for comfort and wanting dorian close to him and dorian quickly reciprocating. i think that’s especially important when so many people thought that their opposing sides would drive them further apart (especially on orym’s part) when in actuality we learned that orym’s love for dorian is SO fucking strong that it it supersedes his hardheadedness which when you remember who orym is, is actually a big fucking deal
